Hi everyone, I've just seen Quadcells post on 5th Gen, however, I'm looking for any outstanding issues that I may have with this 2000 GLE 3.0 auto w/24K on it, like the Radiator Core Support I now face on my 97 SE.
-Any other issues that may affect the 5th Gen GLE's?
-I believe it still has a 3.0 engine like my 97 SE has in it. Is that the same engine and designation VQ30?
-Is the Knock Sensor in the same difficult but replacable location under the Intake Manifold? It seems they have replaced a few of these already. -
-Any other thoughts or advice besides going to 3.5 model? I've already read all of quadcells thread regarding 5.5 model recomendations.

the 00-01s have the VQ30DE-K which has the variable air intake system (VIAS)

 

24k miles, thats very low.

the maf goes out. $80 replacment

i never had a knock sensor problem. had a 00 from 30k - 100k and i never had to replace it.

ignition coils like to go out too. i got 6 updated coils for a little under $300.

i think thats it as far as things breaking.

 

Thanks for the info, I'm excited by it, nothing like having a neighbor you know with that kinda mileage. I'll probably want to add a few perks to it, I'd like to mimic the SE suspension at least, it has 16 or 17 inch wheels. Would it be worth it to put in a CAI in this thing since it has the VAIS thing going for it? I'm not quite sure how that works.
