Upgrades / Changes 2000 SE

I'm an old member that's been around for a while and had all sorts of plans for my Maxima. They were interrupted by a few back-to-back deployments to Iraq and me deciding to purchase a new GSXR1000 for liesure.

Point is, I am back to modding my Max and I want to get a few things done. I know my clutch is going bad so I am going to start there and work my way around from the wheels up. I've never gone for looks and ride before engine work and I want to do it right so this is a long project that I am going to provide my trials (and likely errors) for you guys to point and laugh at, and to learn from.

**Edit**
Also, does anyone have any specific clutch they would recommend? I'm about to do a search as well to look for any comments on replacement clutches but I would like to hear what any of you have to say about them. I'm currently looking at a simple Spec: Stg 1+ since I don't think I need a racing clutch for a Maxima, the Spec will withstand up to 365ft lbs of torque.

Update: 5 Nov - I got the Spec clutch kit in the mail, waiting on the short shift and flywheel before I start tearing into it. Decided to go ahead and get the spec because I found almost 100% positive feedback about the spec.

Read my post again. I mentioned that I am searching, but would like input as well if anyone has the time to. If you don't want to input, don't reply. That's to anyone. I'd love the input, but don't need the thread to go off topic.

listen petty officer

you dont ask any specific question. you just say you want to mod it and ask for suggestions.

decide what YOU want to do. then ask specific questions if you have them.

edit: actually you just said you were modding it. you never even asked for input (except the clutch question that has been discussed before)

Again, you need to re-read the post. The ONLY thing that I asked for a suggestion on was the clutch because that's the first thing I am tending to, and I already have an idea on what I want for it. I just want to know any possible good/bad information about it. Which I am researching on my own as well. The text before that question was simply me mentioning I am starting modding again and that I will be posting updates on the mods and what I am doing as I go.

I'm a pretty relaxed and nice guy that's been on the org for a while, your antagonism and ignorant responses won't antagonize me bud, might as well move on. And don't bring military rank into it either. Asinine.

You ever heard the phrase two heads are better than one? That's the concept. So far I haven't found any bad info on the spec clutches, I haven't began to look for other clutch info yet but will after.

The concept in this post was to add my knowledge and search ability with anyone elses possible personal experiences. I just didn't appreciate someone jumping on my post telling me to search - something I was already doing in addition.

So, if I misinterpreted, my bad then.

I hate to take this thread off-topic, but if everything is already out there, why have a 'public' forum? Just lock the whole thing down and provide information.:stfu:

I would like to see the pictures of your mods, especially your LED tails and Projectors (given that they are not the ebay ones)

Nah, they're not e-bay. I'm very wary of e-bay these days. I generally site-buy or parts warehouse purchase. I'll take the pics tomorrow and post 'em, but they're not installed yet. I still need a new wiring harness. I like the look, personally. All the mods in blue are on order, ordered, or will be on order. The mods in the orangish color are completed. Guess I should have specified that on my siggy huh?

so you did a retrofit into the 2000 housing or the 02-03 housing?

If its the 00 housing, can you point me in the right direction as to how you did it and what projector setup you used?

I own both an R6 and a GSXR 1000 so I will stay out of that one.

As for the housing I used what came in the kit, it's a 2000 housing but the wiring harness that came with it doesn't fit quite right so I had to go look around for a new harness. I found one that I think will work so once I have tried it out I will let you know.
