How high to remove exhaust? (pic heavy)

Hey, I guess I am not able to "rock the boat" as well as I thought. I will say, that exhaust is a pain in the rear to get off the car...
We finally got it high enough to where we could easily slide it out, but by that point... well, lets just say lowering the car...
it fell about 4 inches onto the jack stand (actually landed on the pinch weld) that was some fun times...

I had to park my car at almost the end of a flat driveway that had a dip going into the road and use the dip for more clearance. It still took forever. Haha my unsafe tricks led to a broken scissor jack that almost took off a side skirt...

Here's the jack point I used:
And this is how much the jack stand was extended, similar to yours:

2. Trading exhausts with someone.
3. (See 2) They're across the country, so that wasn't quite an option. It was some useful experience.

yea it is pain in the *** to put that rear section. i used a few of my old school books to get them high. and no i wouldnt pay 100 bucks to install a freakin exhaust, why not pay 30 bucks for an oil change while your at it?

I just pulled off the rear section last week and can sympathize with you. I had to roll the rear onto ramps and then from there use a scissor jack under the rear axle sitting on a block of wood to get the rear up the rest of the way. It took something like 6 tries. Definitely not the safe way about it.

Hey we have the same jack!!! I have the nasty all aluminum version also but it crapped out on me
I just jack only the passanger side up, it makes that ish so easy. It also makes cat/y/shifter work much easier as well. You have to use two jackstands even on the pass side though, one up towards the front not as high, and if you're working on in the cat area you need to lift the front pas. up a 2nd time.
Again. Always rock the car as hard as you can before getting under it. I've never had a problem, but if I did I'd rather F up a car than F up a car and kill myself. So think about that.

First Id like to say Mayjor pain in the **** horrible design. I actually loosened the bolts that hold the rear suspesion on and had my car jacked way up in the air to get my cat back on just a little trick I used.
