Chirping sound on 1st to 2nd shift

I hope this hasn't been covered - I searched and could not find anything related. 2000 Maxima. For the last several months I've noticed a "chirp" sound that seems like it is coming from somewhere near the front drivers side wheel, that only happens right when the auto tranny is shifting from 1st to 2nd. Maybe once in awhile when shifting from 2nd to 3rd too. Just one chirp occurs and it only lasts about a half second or so. Anyone else have this problem - or any ideas?

It's because your car has so much power.

The only thing REMOTELY correct is better suspension. He's auto so i doubt he's chirping tires when shifting. I dont even know if all new suspension would take it away. How does the tranny shift on strong acceleration? Maybe its on its way out.

Could be something momentarily rubbing when the car reacts to the shift.

I'm the original poster. Sorry if some of you guys actually thought all I had was a tire chirp (i.e burning rubber) - I thought you were joking. No, this actually happens even if I'm doing fairly slow acceleration. I'm thinking there is something mechanical causing the chirp (never had it before). Some might call it a squeak. It doesn't repeat, just happens on the shift. Sounds like the poster above has something kind of similar. Mine does not have any clunk though (hope it doesn't evolve into that).

so better tires wouldnt prevent the tires breaking lose?

it probably isnt the tires at all. he (like most new people) probably isnt good with describing sounds. "chirp" is tire but thats probably not what he means.
