Vents for air/ac:

I have two questions about the venting system in my 03 Maxima. The first question is: What is the correct name for the piece that controls the air flow direction when changing it from the floor to the upper vents. Question two: does anyone know if that would be covered in an extended warranty from Nissan. The reason I am asking these questions is one day when changing the air flow to "just the floor" it made a weird noise and now all my circulation is messed up. i get nothing out of the center vent...When i have it going just to the floor i also get air coming out of the two front side vents...

probably something to do with your climate control. I beleive there are electronic actuators that control the flappers in the duct work. One of these actuators could have went bad that is if you have the digital climate control. If you dont have digital climate control then they are controlled by cables but Im pretty sure yours is digital. As far as warranty I dont know for sure unless you read over whats covered with the extended warranty.

???? I am not sure its the blower fan. If he gets air to the flow and the side most vents, how is the blower motor at fault?

I would side with nismowolfe and say go through the SM that explains testing the Electronic Climate control. I did it a long time ago to diagnose a bad interior climate sensor.
