Technically, ANY claybar is bad for the paint.

How often are you using it? You should not need it every wash or anything....

I use the claybar about once every 3-4 months. I had a friend who would do it about every car wash and his paint started fading out in about 2 years.

i use it only on real stubborn spots like hard to remove tar or bugs

It is just a cleaner. So long as plenty of soapy water or the spray stuff is used I can't see how it would hurt the paint.
Try e-mailing the manufactures of the clay and ask them.

yeah but doesn't it clean by removing a very thin layer of the clear coat? It's abrasive right? I guess if it is, and you use it enough, it could damage your paint...
