Lost All Keys
I have lost all keys to my car, I was wondering if anybody knew the cheapest alternative to getting a new one, have the dealership make me a new one or a locksmith? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Programming keys is standard 1 hour labor. 1/2 hour if the dealer is nice. Usually includes cutting them, but doesn't include the key itself. If you can get one from eBay or courtesy, it will be cheaper.
However time is not on your side on this one..

i paid aroun 120-130 for 2 new keys with programing at the dealership, had to tow the car there. It will definitly be cheaper to buy keys online and go to a locksmith to get them programmed.
Some have said that sertain home depot's also program keys, I checked in my area and none of them do around western ma. but worth a try around your area.

For future reference when people search and see this thread, it was 60 for the key 90 for the programming and I had to get the car towed to the dealership, lesson learned have about 10 copies strategically placed in the city that you live in.

Just curious Reket,
From your first post when you say you lost all your keys. Did you lose them all at once, (ie: dropped them overboard) over a period of time, and how many are you talking about?

Well I only had 1 pair when I bought the car from a dealership, I know weird they said the other owner lost the keys and they did not have time to to make a new one and I am an idiot and have not made a copy since when I bought it.

Reket,
I actually bought my car from the wreckers with no keys.
My uncle worked at Nissan, had the keys cut, then programmed them at the body shop. Each car has a programming code (4 or 5 digits) i believe.
bam.

go into the shop and ask one of the technicians/mechanics to get it for you and pre-pay him a less amount of what the dealership will charge
they get it for a big discount for the key/fob, and they won't get charged to program the key

Thanks guys my User name is wrong its actually a 2000 GLE...I took a trip to a locksmith after posting this and he wont cut the key, I need to make an apt for them to cut the key and program it..Wish Program it was easier like get the key cut then press a few buttons inside the car like the trip then the lock then unlock then shut the door lock it then unlock it...

Hey Guys,
I bought my 02 Maxima about a year ago and decided I should get another key made before it's too late. I'm wondering what keys are compatible with what models/years?
For instance, there are a bunch of keys available from Courtesy, but the price varies depending on Model/Year. http://www.courtesyparts.com/keys/keyblanks.html
Would the 04-06 Altima key work? Seems to be the cheapest.

Thanks,

Thanks for the quick reply. Are you sure that key doesn't have a chip. The description states that it does. Just looking to confirm.
