Programming remote, Remote Frequency?

I know I know I did search and got this thread

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ng#post2986989

It basically says that the guy bought a wrong frequency remote off of ebay.

Im having the same problem as this guy I follow the programming remote instructions but nothing happens when I press the remote. Im wondering does anybody know anything concrete about the different frequency remotes or are they all the same?

what kind of remote are you trying to program and to which car, a 4th gen remote has to have 4 buttons to work. I never tried the 3 button remote but heard someone say that it is possible.

As best as I can tell, the stock 5.5 gen remote operates at 315MHz:
