My 00 Max stop breathing after 3 seconds...

Starting a week ago, every time when I started my car for the first time in the morning, the sound coming from the engine was not normal… I am not sure how to explain, but it sound like the engine breathing so hard and it would last about 3 seconds, then the engine completely stopped. I started the car again after 10 seconds, the car could last as normal, but the car would shack in the first minute, and if I stayed at the same spot and let it warm up for 5 mins, the car was just like normal. Nothing happened, even if I parked the car for couple hours ON THE SAME DAY, the car was fine. The only time I experienced that was in the very first start in the morning. I am in Indiana and the temperature these days here is around 15-20 F in the morning.

Do you guys have any idea what seem to cause this? What should I do about it?

I am still an undergraduate student here in Indiana. I really hope this will not cost me too much to fix...

I thought that was the spark plugs on the first day, so I had my friend replaced the spark plugs(6 of them) 2 days ago, but this seems not the issue.

Please forgive my poor English explanation since I am still learning the language.
Thank you very much!!
Ryan

Ps, one more thing I forgot to mention is the RPM was up to 5000 when the engine first start in the morning...

Impossible, there is micro electronics in there.
New or reman is the only option.

I seem to be having the same exact problem only mine also will die if im just sitting at a red light. I figured it was jsut the temperature here since ive recently moved to Chicago. I changed my MAF about 2 years ago could it be going bad again? Also the first time I changed my MAF I had completely different symptoms like no power but now I have the same symptoms as ryanpa but my car still has ***** lol. Two different cases same problem perhaps?

Is it possable that the MAF is just too dirty? Can I just clean it??
MaxVice4, I don't really understand what are you talking about? You said "the first time I changed my MAF I had completely different symptoms like no power", but you said now "now I have the same symptoms"... very sorry, but I just don't understand!~~

I had the same problem and after I replaced the MAF it ran fine for about 2 weeks then started doing the same thing. It ended up being the upper intake plenum gasket. The Nissan dealer was going to charge $500. to replace but I have a friend that is a mechanic at infiniti replace it for $100. The gasket set is around $20 but I think you got to take almost everything off the top of the engine.

lol Sorry What I ment was the first time my MAF went bad my car had a dramatic loss of power.

But now my car isnt lacking any power it just dies at start up like yours or even when im jsut sitting at a red light idling.

So my question was is it possible for the MAF still being bad even though imhaving a completely different issue with my car.
