first road trip with 2k2 lights...
well, I took Kev's advice and gave them a 1/4 crank (I marked my original position with a SharpieŽ so I could quickly bring them down if needed). I did not get flashed on lows and I could see FOREVER. Pretty schweeet. however, I noticed the Highs were waaaayyy too high. Not in the trees, but focused on a point slightly above the road. kinda sucks. You literally have to aim *alittle* low to have a proper high pattern.
On interesting note... I came over a hill with my HIDs on and rolled up on the Tennessee Highway Patrol at an embarrassingly high rate of speed. He was parked on the shoulder parallel to me. I was VERY shocked I didnt get pulled over... it was 1am and I was clear of any traffic. he totally had me. I talked to my brother and dad about that when I got to the 'rents house, they were also surprised, but they said that given my HIDs and where I had them aimed (and coming over a hill) that it may have been very hard to get a laser on me. hmmmmm, interesting theory.... That would be cooooooooo.... Now, I just need that coating of radar absorbing materials and I'll be set. I would drop chaff and flares if I thought it would help
Overall, the HIDs made a HUGE difference. 6 hours, no eye fatigue. Great contrast. There were no downsides whatsoever. I backed them off 1/8 and got back my highbeams to a reasonable focal point, and keep most of my HID field. Heh, nothing like street signs being too bright to read

You said it all. I love my HIDs and it was worth all the headaches and problems. Mine were mostly just tracking everyone elses so I did not have them! I am going to adjust mine tonight...to lazy. I always forget until I start driving.... DOH!

yeah...
I used BigIceDogs writeup
actually, I printed all the pages from both and during the install, I got the pages mixed together
I just kept on snipin'
My HIDs are grounded to the body and the only thing different is that I used a relay for the highs.. one relay, fused to the battery, for both highs. the highs ground is also to the body. I had a reason for this that I cannot recall at the moment
basically, I noticed that removal of one the horn relays allowed the keyless entry and horn to work, but killed panic and alarm. So that got me to thinking.. what I havent tried yet, and hope to soon, is to see if I can re-route the pulsing ground of the alarm to do my own nefarious bidding, like high flash and horn. I think if I put the 'coil' of the relay back in the socket, the functions will be there, but the connections to that relay can be what ever I want... and no cut wires.
dunno, its a long shot.

Dixit: I thought you were going back to the Vision Kit? From what i've heard and seen, the Vision kit is still brighter and has better range in front and to the sides of the road.

I need to just get a new 6000k bulb. They will be out soon enough for a good price.

2k2 HIDs
Has anyone experienced the light pattern of the HIDs trembling when going over pronounced bumps on the road? My 2k2 HIDs do and it's pretty annoying. Maybe it only occurs in the "smooth" roads I drive on here in the Midwest.

I got mine and installed them about one month ago. Worked out just fine.

Everything works great with my system, no problem, except the VERY VERY minor problem of if during the daytime i choose to highbeam/flash someone when my lights are off, I get both my HIDs and Highs on at the same time.
Not a huge issue since I dont flash any people during the day.

yeah.. but...
Kev, have you looked at your highbeam when aimed high? it looks like you are opening a new Blockbuster in your car or you are part of some anti-aircraft defense network. I mean, I like to know whats in the trees, but not that bad. Upside, birdwatching at night.
I wish they could be aim separately.
oh, I got one other complaint.. my lights are right on, but my blinkers dont match..?? bizarre..If I see them on a wall, one side is quite a bit higher. may just be the bulb. the running lights are just alittle off, too dim to really see their pattern.

Yeah, I've seen the beam pattern when the highs are on. They don't seem that high (as you described).
Blinkers not matching? Put your hazards on and look from the front of the car. Get superwhite running bulbs.
