3 years ago I switched out my stock 2000 se headligts to ebay halos. (I had a shop install them.) The light output sucks and everytime I wash the car water gets in both of them. I know they had to rewire alot of things to put the halos in. My question is do I need to rewire anything to put 2000 stocks back in. Any info would be appreciated.

first off, how is anyone supposed to help you if another shop did the rewiring...

second, you never should have bought them in the first place....

un-rewire everything

Yeah it's pretty well documented that those ebay projectors have terrible light output.

As stated by others here, some 02-03 HIDs or a retrofit using some stock projectors from another car (acura TSX comes to mind) are the only ways to do it right.

tsx retrofit ftw!

might look a bit funky but output is friggin amazing lol but i'm back to stock xenon headlights now since i'm selling the car soon. 02-03 xenon headlights don't shine as far as projector headlights.

no it doesn't.

you compare a silverado or s10... sure it'll seem worse because the car is higher but don't think that the maxima doesn't cause a rediculous amount of glare. even with stock 5.5 HID's there's still a good amount of glare.

only way to really kill it - oem hid projector retrofit. i've done a number of them and i can tell you it's day and night difference.

check out hidplanet.

when i said "people like you" i didnt mean a newb...i meant a person that will continue to argue lighting issues. the HID issue isnt a "stupid illegal thing"...its dangerous...like every other lighting thing covered by law

i have a 01 max and i really want to get black headlights. i dont want to spend over 200 but i dont want to negatively affect my vision either.
is there any way to tint my headlights or repaint them to make the lights look black?

I think you can get a film and put it on top or tint it by painting it, smoking headlights shouldnt be that difficult. i have ebay projector headlights and the projection is terrible but i have hids in them and their working just fine, no water leaking no problems and i can see the road alot better than stock headlights with hids and better than the 2k2-2k3 headlights, i guess i got lucky

I only argue it because based on my actual experience with the car it really isnt that bad. Sure it might be illegal, but there is no dangerous glare like there is on some cars. I had aftermarket HIDs in my maxima for a good 3 years and never once got flashed for them being to bright or glaring in someones eyes.. It really comes down to what kind of car they are in and how they are aimed.. It will never compare to a tsx retrofit but in the 5th gen maximas case it certainly isnt deadly to other drivers.

Insert helpful non condesending answer here:

Check ebay or junk yards for smoked out ae headlights on the cheap. They are tinted but legal. Ebay also has aftermarket blacked out lights but the output is supposed to be terrible

lol yea i would like the "cool" look, most of my car is black/red and i wanted headlights to match, i was gonna put in stronger bulbs to counter a tint but i was looking for a legal solution.
soonerfan, you really need to chill, out of the last two pages you have had maybe one post's worth of value and other than that you just ***** at people, and sit on the forum with the shakes responding to every single post.
I am new to the forum and would like to get involved but there is no reason to mock people
Are the lights that look like the 00-01 lights but in black that are sold on ebay any good?

AE headlights are darker inside or you could always open them up and paint them black inside
