How is the 2k2 nav system??
I'm looking into getting this option and was wondering how any owners felt about it. How does it compare to other nav systems out there and is it really worth the extra money and options I have to get for it?? Thanx in advance.

I purchased my '02 SE with nav a couple of months ago. To be honest I haven't used it too much, but I live in a small town and most of the streets don't show up where I live. I have to drive to Austin, the closest bigger city to get more streets to show up. I looked at the Acura also and in my opinion the Acura nav is a better system. The Acura nav is DVD based, while the Max nav is CD based. The voice can be a little annoying so I have that feature turned off. It is a cool toy to play with and people are impressed when they see it, but for $2k, it is an expensive toy.

The biggest reason I am frustrated with the Navi system is that you lose your in-dash CD player (or 6 disc in dash for the '02). I have had a changer in the trunk before and find that I forget to change the CD's and am stuck with music in there far longer than I would like. I wish the Navi system was like the one on the new Lexus ES300 where there was a fold down door that exposed a CD and cassette player. The I35 also retains it's in-dash CD (I think) because the Navi screen folds out from on top of the dash.
Do those of you with the Navi system agree with my comments?

Navigation Unit..
I just purchased a GARMIN STREET PILOT III for my 2K1 and it works extremely well. I used it a few times already and it seems to be on target. It also talks and has a clear view color screen. I like the unit because its portable and I can use it on any car. The unit came with a CD Rom, bean bag (non-slip holding mount for dash), and 32mb of memory (chip). I paid $900.00 total and works the same as those other factory Nav systems.
I will be posting pictures of my Garmin unit in my Max soon. Stay tuned....!!!

Hella is over
I think that the word "hella" has become hella-old. My $.02. Also, Nissan should seriously consider a DVD based system, the Acura is dead on and you can drive cross-country without needing a new CD. My fater-in-law has it and we took a trip from Ohio to Florida and it was accurate the entire way. Small bass ackward towns and all.

I'm I know the system is cd based. Some of you have also said that there is only a changer if you get nav, well does that mean I lose one of my cd slots and its really only a 5 cd changer?? Or is there a slot on the nav strictly for it?? Any info is seriously appreciated.

With the Nav option the CD changer for the stereo is in the trunk, not in the dash. The changer is a 6 CD changer. Personally, I don't like the CD changer in the trunk. I wish they could have found someplace inside the car, like maybe in the glove box. The nav uses a CD that inserts in a slot behind the screen. The screen flips down so you can insert the CD. The CD only contains info for your "area". For example, the area where I live contains info for 4 states. If you go out of your area then you have to purchase a CD for where you are traveling if you want to use the nav.
