Crank pulley Indestructable
Ok so I just got my max the other day and the crank pulley broke off i guess the belts were too tight. Anyway after doing research on here and finding a couple write ups this past Saturday i went out and attempted to get my pulley off. ya ok well i completely destroyed 2 craftsmen 19mm sockets and the bolt didn't even budge. You may say well craftsmen suck or something like that but that is just sick. Anyway do you guys think i should just find a impact socket and try to get the crank bolt out that way or just take it to a shop who can use a impact to get it off. I don't know if anyone else has run into this but i was just very surprised about this whole thing figured id share.

yep impact socket is going to be the way to go. Just use it with your breaker bar or if you don't have one, put your regular rachet on it and take a hammer to it for some ghetto impact. It will come lose eventually just like it would with an impact wrench.

OR
Put the wrench on and have a friend hold it in place while you get a big piece of wood and hit it a couple of times...hopefully you two trust each other

if it is really tight sometimes a 2135 T.I. even might not get it off (rarely though) If so we use a breaker bar with some pipe on it. And on the pulley itself we wrap a pipe wrench. It's like a long bar with a chain that locks onto the pulley so it won't spin.
And use an impact socket. It's more flexible and won't crack.

breaker bar. wedge it between the pulley and the ground. crank the motor for a split second to break it loose. pretty ghetto, but it works for those of us who have air compressors that can't support an impact
