For those with HID fogs....

Does anybody ELSE with HID's in the Fogs have an issue with the ballast / bulb not re-firing after hitting the hi-beams /flash?!?!
The ballast will also not fire consistently on cold power-up....again, not sure why.

I have the foglight MOD done, where the fogs stay on with the Parking lites (pwr tapped on Pass. side running lamp) and it is THAT HID lamp that seems to have the re-firing issue.

I'm pretty sure somebody out there hot-wired their Fogs to stay on FULL TIME (lights on) but can't remember who (search pending).

Anybody ELSE having this issue?? I've considered adding a few industrial strength capacitors in-line to store energy for just such an occaision - but as it is, I rarely use my hi-beams, and almost NEVER flash them.

advice is welcome.

It was IGOR911
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....oglight+rewire

I think this may solve my issue - but it doesn't explain why I'm having the problem of the ballast not firing.
As fyi -- i tried returning my fogs to stock wiring config (fogs off with park lites) and it still didn't work, so I replaced my ballast.
New ballast still didn't fix the issue.
I'm stumped.

02.
Have you rewired yours to stay on with the PArking lites as well??
I'm wondering if these two mods INTERACT with each other okay.....meaning - if I ground the wire for them to stay on with the Hi beams, will it work in tandem with the driving lite mod??

Thanks,
gr

I did the foglight mod too, My fog lights use to flicker a lot when I use my high beams, so I played with the wiring for a while and found out if you reground the low beam everything will stay on and the flickering was gone but I have a 00. Try to reground the fog light and see if that works.

Do you have the parking lite mod done on yours??
I need to know if these two mods interact okay with each other....
They should - but I'd like to know BEFORE I ground the lows~!

thanks,

Yeah i did the park light mod about two years ago and havent had a problem yet, but i think you should reground your fog light first, iam not sure which wire would be the ground for the factory hid low beam

It's the green wire vs. the yellow/green wire in the 00...

I just needed to make sure they'd interact allright.

Incidentally -- did you tap the clearance/parking lamp or the sidemarker/turn signal lamp for the parkinglite mod??
I'm trying to figure-out why I have this power bleed...it doesn't make sense -- but then again, I'm no expert.
It takes ALOT of juice to fire-up two ballasts. It would be easier to have a dedicated circuit -- but then you'd have to rewire the stock swtiches.

I cant remember if I tapped the clearance/parking lamp or the sidemarker/turn signal lamp. You could also buy one of those hid relay kits i0 ebay and run the remote wires to the park lights.

Guys, just get a relay to draw power direct from battery. Then use the extra signal input wire on the relay and hook it to your highbeam, so you can keep your fog and high same time.

exactly... this is your problem. I use a relay to pull power from the battery on my 55w fogs and I have no issues with them refiring after hitting the high beams.
