Car wont rev when in gear (03 6MT)
I'll make this short since I pretty much have an idea of what the problem is, just need some assurance.
Last week, was cruising on the highway running around 60 mph when all of a sudden the gas pedal wouldn't "work". Basically felt like I was lifting throttle. I pull over and pop the hood with the car idling, seeing if I could hear anything. Couldn't see/hear anything wrong. Gave it a couple of free revs and it responded, put it in 1st and it drove normally. It has happened a couple of times in the last week (2 or 3 times) but I just would put in neutral, give it a couple of revs (~ 3.5K) and would put it back into gear...no problems. Basically just a bandaid to make it through this work week.
Yesterday, I noticed how slow my windows went up and down and how dim my clock was (lights off, daytime). Did a little research and figure my alternator is ****. Well, I'm driving home today and get about a 1/4 mile from my house and it ****s up again. I pull over to the side of the road, give it some revs and everything looks fine except its having trouble keeping a steady idle and my battery/e brake light come on. So I'm pretty much positive its the alternator. It free revs like a champ, go to put it in gear and throttle just will not respond. This is the only thing that's puzzling to me, but this is my first car with drive by wire so that may be the reason...
Car has about 98K miles on it. TIA.

Replace the alternator (and get the battery checked out, too) then see if it still does it.
Always fix the simple problems (and the ones that have the clearest solution) before attempting to diagnose further.

I believe that if you unhook the battery on a modern Nissan, then it will die whether or not the alternator is good.
