Front Left Grinding noise

Guys I have a problem with the max. There is a grinding sound coming from the front left of the car. It seams to appear when there is a front passenger(only) and also the noise stops when the brake is applied. Any ideas? The struts are about 2 months old. GR-2/voglands Thanks

dust shield? wheel bearing?

Jack it up, take off the wheel and spin the hub and see if anything makes any noises or anything looks funky.

I checked the dust shield no dice. I will take the wheel off later today and see if I can hear anything. Thanks

K little update: I had the mechanic look at the car and he said the ball bearing needs to be replace so he did and no problem yet. Hopefully it is fixed. I will update if any changes in the next few days. Thanks guys

jasonmax, before any costly repair, try this: DIY or make your mechanic to take off the wheel, brakes, rotor, remove wheel bearing lock nut; now you have access to the drive shaft; it should move freely back/forward (if not, separate it from the hub by tapping lightly). It's not necessary to remove it completely, just allow it moving inside of the hub. Use alot of WD-40 to clean/lubricate the end of the drive shaft (just where it is connected with the hub), removing all rust from there. Now it should move really smooth and freely. Bring everything together; done. All operation hardly took 15 min, and the noise is gone.

it doesn't sound like the shaft, more like the brakes. b/c as long as I step on the brakes, the noise will be gone.
maybe it's the rear brakes since they are very old and rusty.

You can check it with the e-brake.

check the shields behind your rotors.. to make sure they are not loose or rusty.. or maybe something caught in there..
