THOUGHTS ON YELLOW TOP OPTIMA BATTERY?

HEY,

I WAS LOOKING INTO GETTING THE OPTIMA YELLOW TOP BATTERY D35 FOR MY 2001 NISSAN MAXIMA. I WAS LOOKING ONLINE AND ON THE FORUMS AND COULDN'T REALLY TELL WHERE I SHOULD PURCHASE THIS BATTERY FROM.

ANY ONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OR THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS BATTERY?

ALSO ANYONE KNOW OF ANY WEBSITES THAT WOULD BE GOOD TO CHECK OUT FOR A GOOD DEAL ON THE YELLOW TOP?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

1. caps lock off
2. search
3. overkill and only for bragging rights unless you have a huge system

really not neccessary, a normal battery will suit you just fine, I bought a battery from walmart for 60 with 875 cranking amps and 700 Cold cranking amps, and that is overkill.

But if you really must have one Sam's club carries them, as does Advanced Auto Parts and Auto Zone. All in all this battery will run you $100+

Speaking from tons of experience, I would say its a great battery with a terrible warranty. Like everyone mentioned, its overkill for your car if you dont have high end lighting or audio. Though its never bad to have, improves how fast your car starts and runs. But it only has a 1 year warranty which is terrible for Optima's SECOND MOST EXPENSEIVE battery. I fell victim to this. Battery failed and had to buy a new one (originally purchased from Autozone I believe.)

I then went with a Red Top Battery. Honestly, this would be just as good and has a 3 year warranty which is even better. I am running more power audio wise now than I ever have and its handling the power with no problem. Car starts like a champ even on cold nights and best of all, if your huge investment fails, you are protected for 3 years. If you dont have the greatest luck in the world and even if you do, I would recommend the Red top over the yellow for this one benefit. Both are more than what you need for normal usage but I feel safer with a longer warranty. And I have already been burnt. 160 dollars down the drain sucks...

$97 with tax from autozone for a 02max. looks good, works the same. save the receipt, they honor the warranty.

I had a red top in my last vehicle and I liked it combined with the audio system I had and the electric fan conversion.

Yeah you'll need to cut the 90 degree positive clamp cause the post are too far inboard of the battery body. I found that the Exide Orbital battery fits perfect and is about 2/3 rds the size of the OEM. comes with a 8 yr warranty no questions asked... features gel type construction and can be mounted in any position desired. I found this battery believe it or not at NTB....

If you get the right battery, you do not have to make any changes with terminals. I have had yellow and red tops that were designed for the maxima and they fit with no troubles except getting a tie bar across it.

8 year warranty on a battery?! Thats amazing, but how good are these batteries rated? Recommended for someone with heavy sound system or just ideal for your normal daily driving situations? I would hate to replace a battery every 2 months due to sh*ttyness...

How long is that warranty on that Optima? An 8yr warranty sounds like they stand behind their product, I happy with the performance, size, and construction quality. I'm running an UDP with the stock BOSE premium OEM audio, HID headlights and Foglights, LED's everywhere...CCA is 850 and My tie bar fit fine!...This is no Autozone, Walmart, or O'Rielly sh*t!

ive got a yellow top....needless to say, i love it, always starts like a champ, i do have a nice sized stereo, and i like to play my radio sometimes with the car off, so the battery really holds up....unlike the die hard i had...i dont get dimming lights with the music up really loud, but when i really crank up the bass the dash lights will dim "SLIGHTLY". Ill be getting around to doing the Big 3 to take care of that

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate the responses. I'll look into my local Autozone and see what kind of batteries they have and the warranty's that go along with them.
