Engine Rebuild Kit

Hey guys,

After pulling the old motor and replacing it with a new one, I was considering having my old block rebuilt.

Do any of you know of any rebuild kits that would beef up 3.5 that would include cams, lifters, and everything I would need?

Andy

There's that 4.3L stroker that has always been talked about.

You must not ever check the All Motor Section, do you? I've never heard of any rebuild kits come with the top end (cams / valve springs, etc). Most off the shelf units come primarily with gaskets & rings. And the 4.3L 'kit' is mostly bottom end (crank) products.

JE or any other reputable company can make you some custom pistons for a price. There are many different cams out there, you just need to do some research on cams and their characteristics in order to make the decision that is right for you. And no, it is not all about max lift & duration either.

Get some decent cams, HR valve springs & heads, L32 LIM/UIM/Pistons/ARP RB's & HB's & call it good as far as hardware is concerned.

Yeah I know of a few companies that provide the heads and shortblocks, and crank, rods, pistons, etc....
You need the check out Brian Crower, Cosworth, Race Engineering and bring your wallet. These companies can increase the displacement of the Maxima VQ35DE but there is no block available for the FWD setup only RWD the last time I checked. More than likely you'll have to settle for a stroker kits with forged CP or JE pistons, Crower rods, Carillo rods, cosworth pistons, Cosworth Rods, Crower cranks or Cosworth cranks, head Studs, etc.... Cosworth also offers CNC ported heads with +1mm larger intake and exhaust valves....
It's out there but very expensive IMO, unless you're racing professionally and got all that big sponsorship money! It's a pipe dream for me and not a priority in my lifestyle as of now...But If you can do it...Then do it well and represent us Maxima loving stepchildren of Nissan NorthAmerica.

Build the biggest engine you can afford. Mod for mod, the larger engine will make more power, although maybe a somewhat lower rpm.

It's a very cool idea and I am awaiting his results and support his 'build'.

As for this thread, IMO has run it's course...for now.

Why don't we let the OP chime in with his thoughts and budget.

Going into (I believe) this car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI0t8Cn8QqY

There were some vids on streetfire that I'm positive is the car, but their search fails...

That's completely stock, right out of the sonic cleaner. No idea of the dimensons off the top of my head.

Just be aware, the 4.3 stroker kits are nowhere near cheap. Even just for parts alone, much less the amount of labor it takes...
