Grease inside front wheel

Hey Guys,

I've noticed grease spots inside my right front wheel. I recently had to replace a bent wheel at this corner because of a crater in the road. What should I be looking for? I have 130K on the car (2000 GLE). It's a bunch of grease...not just a little.

If it needs something major, I want to do everything to the front suspension while I have it apart. I did replace the front axles and brakes a while back so they are good to go. What else do you guys recommend as far as STOCK parts that I should replace? Tie rod ends? Lower control arms?

I've also read that DaveB is the guy to get stock parts from. How do you get in touch with him? Yea...I'm still new here. Don't have time to check very often.

Thanks,
Donnie

it's axle boots. but you said you changed those....i'd check that again to make sure there isn't a small hole or something. Tie rod ends for sure. they'll be going out soon. i need to do mine. good luck!

I didn't think of that. The were actually remanufactured units. The boots were new though, but they may not have sealed properly. I'll check them when I get home. Thanks

Dave B is the person for stock parts, for sure.

Last name is Burnette, there's two Dave B's

Also, if you're getting axles, get them from Raxles, NOWHERE else.

The axle is the only thing that will throw out a lot of grease and spread it all ofer the inside of the wheel. It will be thick and black. Really messy.

I have to agree, raxles.com is the best place to get them.

Any photos of this? Is the grease brown or black typically?

Which is a bad idea. If any sediment or debris has gotten into the CV joint, the axle is shot anyway.

Just replace it with a raxles axle and you won't have to worry about it again.

The CV grease is usually black, sometimes has a gray tint. Filthy, filthy substance.

It's black...or real close...everywhere and real thick. I just installed them a few months ago. Wish I had known about Raxles then. I'll check with DaveB for the other stuff and Raxles for the axles.

Thanks Guys

here is what it looks like...hahah i actually bought the autozone ones. most will say nooooo!!! but i have a friend that owns a 4th gen, pretty well known on the org, max of the month one month. anywhooo he said his raxles felt exactly the same as the autozone ones... but when the raxels ones tore he didn't have any lifetime warranty on it. but just my 2 cents of why i chose autozone. goodluck!
