broken sunroof - gets stuck

So the sunroof will tilt up and down no problem,..but, when I try to fully open it, it drops like normal begins to slide back and after maybe a few inches it just freezes like one of the rails is out of line... anyone have this and/or have a fix besides replacing the entire hardware.. thanks in advance (5.5gen btw)

Search and you shall succeed

I have to guess and say you disconnected your battery in the last few days and this is why your sunroof is stuck.

The sliding switch will become inoperable after the battery terminal is disconnected, the electrical supply interrupted and/or some abnormality detected. Use the following reset proceedures to return sunroof to normal:

1. If the sunroof is open, push the tilting switch repeatedly towards tilt DOWN to fully close the lid.

2. After the lid has closed all the way, keep pushing the tilting switchtowards tilt downfor more than 1 second.

lol ^^ thanks but no, thats not the case..... the problem is.. it seems as if one of the rails/tracks are bent/broken/out of line.. the sunroof tilts fine.. but when opening.. it starts to open then goes ERR and stops moving, like its getting stuck or it is forcing against something causing it not to open..

Can you see any narrowing of the "groove" ? Have you greased up the assembly?

Wow... I just had this happen to me after replacing the battery. I kept pressing the buttons and eventually it started to work.... had no idea it was related to the battery being disconnected.

My sunroof just opens whenever it feels like it, scares the crap out of me. So far it's never done while raining!! I just slide the switch to open and then close, and the sunroof shuts again. It's done this about 3 times in about a year. Anyone elses sunroof posessed?

Joe.

It's happened to me a few times. I think there may be something in the owners manual.

How I fixed it.

1) open the roof all the way, even if it takes several presses of the button.
2) remove the key from the ignition for a few seconds.
3) close the roof.
4) remove the key from the ignition for a few seconds.
5) Tilt the roof all the way up.
6) remove the key from the ignition for a few seconds.
7) close the roof.

You may have to repeat the process.

Mine opens by itself too, and it happened while raining on the expressway. Yah that was fun.

Sunroom still stuck

My 2006 Maxima still does not work. I have tried the reset everyone mentions to no avail. What mine does is just click. I can hear it click about where the motor is. I am not sure if this is a relay or what. Any other suggestions?
