So I went to the junkyard and found

this....

emblems from a 1986 maxima

I'm just playing around with the idea.

I need to heat it up to curve it a little to make it sit flat.

Anyways just playing around with the idea. The other maxima emblem will be going on the lower lip section, the vinyl is coming off, because I have a stillen lip coming (sorry Irish). I am also going to add a wind splitter to the underneath of the new stillen lip, basically like the one deus has.

So here is a fun shot.

The car is going in for paint in Feb. its being painted black (matte).

I also have a Datsun 810 logo in the engine bay.

I'm ordering a carbon fiber trunk and it will maybe go on there, who knows it was FREE and I think the old school logos are much cooler then the new maxima logos.

Personally, the less emblems the better for me, but if you like it, do what makes you happy.

Speaking of older Maxima's, my parents bought an '85 Maxima when they first came out. Really opened my eyes how good Japanese cars had become.

This thread was to show I found these, I don't think I'll really stick them on the car. I thought it was cool with I saw it.

No junkyards around here have 5th gen maxs in the junk yard, I wish there was some around here, so I can get some things.

Our local yard just started getting 00's and 01s this year, at least ones that weren't totally destroyed.

The guy said that the "value" of the car for parts is finally higher than the cost for the junkyard to actually buy the car.

The pull and save place (LKQ) pays people between 250-500 for the cars. Most have been in accidents. Maybe I need to look harder.

does anyone know if i could get a different colored cover for the 3rd brake light at a junkyard or something?? im looking for black because i recently put tints on my '00 white maxima and my interior is beige. from the outside it looks pretty stupid because legally, you can't cover the 3rd brake light in jersey with any tints at all. so if i could pop out the brake light and put on a black cover, it may look better, no?

However....being that you've chosen matte black, I can not complain. Personally, that is the BEST color that a car can be painted, that is, if corresponding outer aesthetics match. I plan on doing my engine flat black later down the road when it has the go to match it.

There is a cover you can find, the dealer might have it. I add the spoiler to my car after the fact and have the 3rd brake light just unplugged and sitting there. But search the junkyards for SEs that had the spoiler stock, they usually have them. Also check the classifieds here they pop up from time to time.

I'll forgive you for doing what you did for now, there is a sticky at the top of the page for questions like these.

Too be honest, I always wanted the 02-03 front, but after I did the 5.5 light setup, I just love they way they fit and sit flush with the bumper with the rounded edged vs. the sharpened edge. I don't know really I'm caught between the two.

also for the CF trunk:
http://www.ionicdynamics.com/2000-03CFtrunk.html

I'm going to order one someday, everytime I have money, I but other things. These are cheap at 675. but will be worth it when my goal to reduce the weight in the car as much as possible but still have luxuries.

We will se what happens with them, I have enough emblems around the car and such, but the new trunk everything will be shaved again.

There is a reason for the matte black but everyone is going to have to wait till next summer when most everything is done.
