wire that leads to starter solenoid in ignition cluster.

So i got my push button starter for my 2k max, and the directions said that it has to be connected to the wires that connect to the starter solenoid. And it also said that those wires are usually the thickest of the batch. So i connected it and ended up blowing a fuse.

I know this is a lot of trouble, but can someone take a picture of the wires in the ignition cluster that lead to the starter solenoid and post it here? i would really appreciate it. thanks!

the thick red wires with the yellow connectors r from the relay. And those are what need to be connected to the starter wires.

which way is up and down on the first pic, i cant tell what im really looking at. It would be easier if you just un plugged the harness plug from the lock cylinder and take a pic of that.

actually you arent looking at the right wires at all, its this big white plug on the driver side of the steering column, right above the tilt lever. That is the harness you need to tap into. hope this helps

Did you try with the key in the ignition? Our cars have an immobilizer that wont start the car without the key in the ignition.

You might need to turn to Acc position and then push your fancy button?

You still can. Its called remote start. Search for Studman and view his homepage. He's got the write up for installing remote start in a 2001. Its a great write up with lots of pics and detailed steps. I used his write up to install my Viper 5900 and all went well. Few small cuts and a few bad words, but in the end all is working great.

Better yet, here:

I found my alarm cheap here:
http://audiovideodimension.com/
Use coupon 15OFFSEC to get $15 off an alarm.

And immobilizer interface and electrical parts here:
http://www.geekbro.com/index.cfm/hur...=115/Mobile-AV
They have cheap T-taps and relays too.

Damn Im helpful.

What type of unit? Can you scan and post the directions?

Do you have the relay connected properly?

Quick illustration:

Obviously double check that 87 and 87a are NO and not NC (in which case you'd need 30 instead of 87), since it's been a while since I wired up an automotive relay. That's roughly the way it should all be wired up.

This is the kit i have. It is pre wired. and all it says to do is connect two wires to the starter motor wires, and power the switch and relay. The relay looks similar to the one you posted pics of pmohr. I will scan the instruction sheet tomorrow morning. Thanks guys.

and reizy, thanks for the info, I have a remote starter that im going to let a shop install for me. I should mention that my maxima is a 5speed.

K, i read about another way you can wire one of these things up. And it requires me tapping tapping into the ignition wire. Can someone tell me which one/Where it is located? I know its black and red.

Having it power ignition will in no way have the car crank.

Did you try wiring it up as I posted above?
