Eastern Catalytic Converter

As you guys know, i am selling the max. I have someone who put a deposit on it, but there is a CEL because the car needs a new catalytic converter. I told the buyer that i would replace it before he pics up the car. OEM would run around $750.00 installed. I can get an Eastern Catalytic converter for about $150.00 Shipped. Has anyone had any experiance with these? they offer a 5 year warenty. I told the buyer that these are the 2 options, and that if i go with oem, he would have to meet me half way.

Here is the link: http://www.car-stuff.com/carparts/ni...ast400751.html

any input would be great.

Common sense dictates that one would not buy a used one when one can get a new one for 1/5th the price...
There was another org member who installed this cat with no problems whatsoever. Good luck.

I just replaced the Catalytic Convertor (front pre-cat: P0430) yesterday with the Eastern Cat (Paid $194). It runs great, since then no CEL. But there was no gasket for the Eastern CAT so it sounds pretty bad. It doesn't sound like a smooth Max V6, more like a tin can, SRT-4 Neon when really low RPM. It runs great though, only thing is it might not be a direct fit, as it says it does on the website.

2000 GXE With California Emission

Dealer Wants 706 for the Front pre-cat.

Is there any hope in finding the pre-cat for less than this.
over 1k installed.

Funny thing is the error is a P0135. I still suspect the MAP, but
the dealer swears the front pre-cat is plugged solid.

Thanks.

Eastern front catalytic gasket maxima 2000

I just spoke to Gil at Eastern Catalytic. The front, radiator side catalytic was reconfigured in Nov08 +/- to accept the OEM gasket. The work around for older units is to buy a new one and return the old one under warrentee. My knee jerk is "what a pain", but when do you find a manufacturer that backs their product with honesty and a complete replacement.

Did he mention where can you get the "new ones" (as opposed to a store that has old stock and would try to push them out on unsuspected buyers)? I was actually getting ready to purchase one from Rockauto this weekend, and from what I understand, that precat was a "direct fit" part.
