whirling noise in the front

just bought a 2k max, and every time i turn the key, b4 i start it, there is this whirring noise in the front engine bay. I couldn't pinpoint the location of the sound. but the sound is very consistent, it whirls about 4/5 times.. then stops.. it whirls be4 i start the engine and while i have the car in park, i think it whirls while i have it in drive too. It is a very consistent whirl/humming..
(sounds like something is spinning..whirling) (like a battery powered screwdriver)

any ideas?
thanks in advance

(btw bought the 2kmax for $2k.. 105k miles, car would stall at stop signs and redlights, so i just changed the MAF and its fine for now. Cant really take it out on the road until i get my plates which will be done in a few hours.)

Sure it's from the engine bay? The fuel pump sounds similar to your description.

Funny...I have the same problem from my 1997 maxima.

It occurs more when I am driving and I hear this grilling sound for 3-5 seconds then it stops for about 4 minutes and does it again. It sounds like an electric screwdriver. It is coming from the engine bay...I'd take a guess that the noise is coming from the right side..

I'm thinking it could be some temperature gauge or something like that.

Its probably the electric motor mounts that are making the whirring noise. My 2000 GLE does the same thing when I turn the key to on.

Found this site:

So no harm in leaving it as is?

disconnect the wire harness for both motor mounts. you can mess up the ECM if you dont.
