Replacing struts

I have a bad front passenger strut (leaking and clunking noise) Im just wondering how do aftermarket performance struts compare price wise to stock replacement? What aftermarket struts would you recommend?
Do I need to replace the springs also or just struts?

More info in the Stickies and if you search around a little.

I searched around locally for me and the stock strut prices were $488 for all 4 struts (best deal out of 3 local shops) or $485/shipped for Tokico Illumina adjustable shocks with free shipping, so I ordered mine from importrp.com. You can find non-adjustable shocks for less.

courtesyparts.com has stock front strut kits for $141/each and rear kit for $106/each or $494/set.

They should arrive in a few days. I'm running them with stock springs and lifting the rear a 1/2" to level out the saggy rear.

There must be three active threads on the main board covering this topic.

Sorry to be a jerk - but you gotta do SOME work.

Stay away from Monroe and Sears. I thought the ride would be softer but it's like there isn't a strut there at all. Sears botched the installation.

It's amazing how many hacks out there can pass as mechanics on a daily basis, isn't it?!

No wonder I don't trust anyone to work on my vehicles.
