New v2OBX headers?
#81
Oh wth guys.. you gotta be kidding me.. your all killing me here.
I bought the OBX headers before this version with the dinky y-pipe outlet, and now theres this newer version with (what looks to be) a bigger y-pipe outlet.
Lucky i didnt install my headers yet muahaha. But its all dependant on fitment.
Hope that o2 bung location on the front header dont hit the radiator.

That's impossible! Most primaries are smaller than they expand into a slightly larger merger or secondaries then into the headpipe into the cat. Cattmans primaries are I believe 1 5/8" into a 2 1/4" collector then into 2 1/4" secondaries merged into a 2 1/2" headpipe then into the cat.
It's not about building something that looks cool I'm sure from the conversations I had with Brian lots of different style/sized mergers were used as well as different size tubing diameter and lenght to get the flow numbers He was looking for when compared to the Oem system, which was dam good even having those precats, it still flowed pretty good. I would love to have those two brands flowed on a flow bench to just compare the numbers....

Honestly it might be easier if you're twisting the engine forward with the IM off. You could use the hangar on the Ypipe to hold the rear header in place while you get the bolts lined up from the top!

okay sense i have a crack in the flex pipe on my stock y i'm gonna get these but before i do can someone tell me if a 01 fed spec has a egr. i just want to plan on how much the install will be. i even if i do have an egr i will prob get these. b/c there are 1/3 of cattman and 1/2 of just the stock y=pipe. they have a good look and design and cant be as bad as stock.

sorry this might be noob, where do i look from b/c the intake manifold is in the way? is there a number that is in the vin that would tell me? or is there another place to look? i don't have access to a lift it that help for the easiest way to tell. thank you
#107
so i was just checking these out a i dont know if these was mentioned but they come with a lifetime warranty
#108
You could look from the driver's side at the exhaust manifold. Anyway, what's your production date? That's all I'd need to guarantee whether or not you have EGR (or you VIN would work too).
#109
the production date is 10/00. thanks for the help. going to order these today when i get home from work.

i had the hotshot and the cattman gen 3. Cattman were soo much better in terms of fitment and the butt dyno. I wonder if these come close to the hotshot at least.
Nothing will match the design of the cattman.
You get what you pay for...

thanks for the info. not to hijack the thread about egrs but is it bad uf you car comes with one but you dont use it?

So is there a guide on how to remove it or a fix for this? Except for the SES light will removing it cause any other problems except for emissions. I live in Florida so i could care less about emissions.
#117
Removing it as you are will just take two parts, the plug (14052-21R00, $8.57 @ Courtesy), and the block off plate (14017-4Y900, $13.53 @ Courtesy).
For installing these headers, you'll just need the block off plate.
No other issues, and saves a bit of space in the engine bay.

When i say fix i mean removal. What about the SES light? I did a search but i cant seem to find any info on exactly how to trick the computer to thinking the EGR is working.
#119
AFAIK as long as you can simulate the EGR temp sensor feedback and leave the EGR VCV plugged in, you shouldn't have an issue. Now how to simulate the feedback, not sure. You could see what it's resistance or what voltage it's putting out both when the EGR is open and closed, then recreate that from there.

Well damn seems like i should start a new thread on that issue.
When are we gonna get some # on this setup!!?
