Any way to disable automatic door locks?

My wives 2k3 GLE automatically locks the doors when you start the car. My 2k3 SE does not, is this because it is a six speed? Is there any way to disable the automatic door locks?

You sure there isn't an aftermarket alarm installed?

I'm looking through the diagrams and don't show any connection between the ignition being on and the doors locking.

Judging by your sig, I assume you have an 00-01 like me. I think most of the car was rewired for the 02-03's so it may not be shown in your fsm for your car. Though I thought I remember there not being auto door locks on any year...

The car has a remote starter installed, maybe that is the reason.

There is something aftermarket going on there, for sure. There is no OEM functionality that does that. I'd have an alarm shop have a look and change the setting on the brain of the alarm.

I'm technologically advanced and happen to have a FSM for the 2002-2003 models too......

To the OP - if you can figure out what sort of aftermarket alarm/remote start there is on the car, there should be a relatively simple fix for it. I used to have a car that I installed a Viper alarm on and there was a way to set it "active" or "passive" - passive locked the door when the car had been running for a certain period of time or when it had been turned off for a certain period of time. Active basically didn't do anything until you'd pressed the button.

Try finding the manufacturer website.

Well, that's a pretty closed minded approach.

Though that might help, what he has may simply be programmed into his OEM keyfob.

I still suggest taking it to a professional.
