ABS Light

I was messing around in the snow today doing ebrake slides and stuff and my ABS light came on and stayed on. I checked fuses and everything else that i could and found nothing wrong. I have an 01 maxima 5spd. Any ideas what it could be??

reset the ecu you probably threw the abs system into safe mode or something. its also possible(and likely) that you damaged the system.

There is no such thing as ABS safe mode. You probably shorted out one of your ABS sensors and hopefully not your ABS computer. You need to do a scan with an ABS scan tool.

i did the same thing and it just eventually went away, then years later i damaged a sensor while replacing studs, theyre sensitive, and its possible that just a small bend in one couse throw the code. i barely touched mine and it bent. im sure the weather dosnt help, mine are rusted to heck and back, and i only drove it during the winter a few years, now its a summer only car.

I have an 03 with the rear driver side abs light comes on, occasionally. I went in to the dealer and he said it was the sensor. As far as doing donuts in the snow..idk it could be a sensor or it could be something else. It's up to you to decide whether you want to fix the problem or not. I would take the advice of others and reset the ECU.

Any pictures of the donuts in the snow?

I had a similar issue last week in the snow. Wasn't messing around but the abs was kicking in a lot as there was a ton of ice on the ground everywhere.

At certain points the ABS light came on and the abs was disabled (could easily lock up the wheels). After a bit of driving and turning the car on/off it went away and abs worked like normal. No problems since.
