Side Marker Rewire Problem

I attempted to rewire the side markers using the instructions on the 5thgenmaxima site. But I could not find the 3M Wire Taps so I bought some taps that splice into the wire. After I was done, I turned them on and the fuse blew. Could this be due to the tap I bought, a cheap fuse or something else? I would like to make another attempt but my wife really doesn't want me touching the car anymore because of this. She said I should stick to programming. Any ideas?

You tapped the wrong wire then. Go back and make sure your selected the RIGHT wire. Cause I know this happened to someone else and it was because they tapped the wrong wire.

You forgot to cut the ground wires for the sidemarkers.

Yeap that is where most people seem to fail on the writeup. Definetely need to CUT the ground wire on the sidemarkers and tuck away the cut one and splice it to the tapped wire.

The wire is wrong

The write up is great for the front...but you need to tap into the black one (If I remember correctly) for the back. I believe the write up says tap the green one for all markers.

Anyone know about a rewire for the 02? I did it on my 00 and loved it. Hopefully it is the same but I don't know since the Headlight housing is different.

Maybe Dixit or Ice will know since they did the 2K2 HID swap on their cars.

TIA

Well as far as which green wire to tap, you want to tap the one that is going to the SIGNAL. Not the parking/stop lamps.

Jefferdy1, what you mean about the rewire on the 02? You mean the foglight and/or the corner lights rewire? It should be the same. Maybe not the foglight rewire though.

I'm talking about the corner rewire. Hopefully I will get a chance this week to look at it since I will be off.

both green wires go into the same harness and if i remember this right i think they are side by side. someone on here said you tap the black wire for the back.......but anyway, im still confused with the back corner rewire.

I might be doing the backs soon myself, so another good write-up will happen.
