Just got Pummled .....:(
Now this isn't a race story but a shout out for help.
Got through fixing up and selling my 5th Gen 00 (5 speed) and 4th Gen I30. Bought a minty 01 SE auto from AZ with 77K on it, one owner absolutely spotless. I did the standard fluid upgrades to synth, cleaned the TB, took out the restrictor (spacer) and JB welded the VIAS cup (which was totally mint btw). New tires blah blah blah. I thought the car felt pretty good for bone stock.
Coming home today I played tag with a G6 GT (not the GTP) and well...I got pasted-crushed and demeaned. He left me a few times like I hit the brakes. His car seemed stock V6 (3.5 auto). This is my first AUTO car in sometime. I left it in "D" and figured it was best. However n omatter what the car shifts around 6 which left me for dead on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts by then it was over. He walked away hard and He shook his head at me and gave me a thumbs down... I felt like kicking my own ***...
So...should I :
1. Manually shift to hold to 2nd gear redline (duh) what about manually holding out first? Seems to get it done in first but the 2nd gear shifts WAY early as does 2-3. (anyone have a link on how to get the most out of a 5th gen auto?)
2. Obviously the WSP Y pipe and timing bump are coming VERY soon.
3. Looking into intakes as well, but I want to do this in conjunction with the other mods. Has anyone used a 4th Gen CAI on a 5th Gen ( I searched and found nothing on point just some interrelated threads).
4. Any other tips for best acceleration with the auto besides a bit of power braking?
TIA!

Unless you modify the location of the battery or move battery to the trunk, there is no way to install a true CAI on 5/5.5 gen. Also, the inner fender well has to be cut open under the battery.

Sorry, seems like a street racing thread to me. I'll leave this open for you to edit out the "story" and change the title. Remember, it's also likely that these questions have been asked before and there's also the 1/4 Mile discussion forum for track tips.

Well you and I are basically in the same boat. I'm running and 01 GLE Auto: Stillen Short Ram Intake and Greddy Evo2 Exhaust. I usually play around against my friends single cam Civic with intake, headers, exhaust. Off the hole he usually is about 2 doors ahead until he shifts into 3rd gear, after that it's a wrap. If you run out of D then turn O/D off, but I usually kill him if I run out the 1 then 2 and then go into O/D off D. Once you start hitting speeds like 100-110 you put back on O/D. I've done a lot of experimenting and that is what I found to work best, but remember it's still an automatic. Doing this all the time will play a toll on your car.

Yeah, forget it, there's nowhere but downhill from here. Locked.
OP - feel free to ask your questions in a different way, if you know what I mean. But like I said, please look around for existing information first.
