Cattman 3" catback
#241
I have a speed shop nearby, that I might have do the install for me. since they have a dyno it's my intention to do some before and after pulls. I'm not sure how that's gonna affect my cost but I know it'll help a lot of owners make the final commitment.
I'm pretty much stock except for the Stillen WAI and the grounding kit. This should at least help the beginners.
NC is Humid and HOT. So everyone else will probably get better results.

Yeah I got my call today same info. should be here no later than 27Jul. I found a shop that will dyno before and after the install for $140 I don't have to get my hands dirty and we get to see what a basically untouched max gains. Not a bad deal. all said and done about $977.84 includes shipping. Not a bad price at all.

Good luck everybody, my summer vacation starts in the morning and I'll be back in the office the morning of 29 July. The catbacks will ship on Monday from southern California.
Installation may require removing the thin sheet-metal cross piece that goes under the b-pipe, or put a spacer underneath it, to make enough clearance for the 3" tube. I don't mean the thick metal structural plate that the b-pipe goes over closer to the engine, I mean the thin cross piece you could bend with your hand. On some cars it will be gone already.

In reference to how giddy we are about getting this new exhaust. Just think if our wives/gf's (or husband/bf's) get this delivery before we do the things they could make us do. I'd be destroyed if she said I couldn't have it until I did this or that...and I'd do it. Lawn mowed, house painted, toilet scrubbed. Oh Tampons...No prob babe I'll BRB. I do it to my son all the time. Bribery - it's how things get done. We've just opened ourselves to it. Brotha's be-ware. ![Big Grin](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

that would just be another thing to check everyday...The tracking number...But I was just thinking I should have asked cattman if he can have the company email the tracker. Probably best they don't cuz I know I'd be on UPS.com all day long.

This waiting sucks!!!!!!!!!!! I hate not knowing when I'll be receiving the exhaust!!!!!

Yes he does, I asked him not too long ago and this is what he said:
Hi,
Unfortunately, we're terrible about keeping up our lousy website, but that's going to change over the next month or two - brand new site on the way. We do sell a very nice header/Y-pipe system for your car. If you'd like to send me an email to bcatts@cattman.com, I'll be glad to send back pictures of the headers. These are made in the US to standards that go way beyond anything else on the market.
Yes, the headers eliminate both precats, which is one of the solutions for a bad precat (plus you'll pick up 20+ whp).
The retail price for this 3-piece system is $879.99 (or $859.99 if your car is one of the late 2001s that doesn't have an EGR system), but we're running a backorder special this month that brings the price down to $809.99 ($789.9 w/o EGR port). Better yet, no money is due at the time of the order.
If you think this might be of interest, give us a call at 800.759.9920 to order, or with any questions you have. We're open 9-5 MST, M-F.
Thanks for your interest!

I heard that. I think the world is going to stand still wondering, "what the hell is that noise." It's going to happen about 8 times over the course of a week.

Everyone keeps acting like sounds clips do not exist for the 3"... so I am confused...
With Resonator installed:
On Dyno:
those are sound clips of the prototype 3", don't see why it would sound any different then what cattman is making.

Besides, JP is just magical. He could go 6s in the 1/4 with a stock Geo Metro, and make it put down 400whp with nothing more than a ballpoint pen and a bottle opener. Ask around DCMAX, you'll see

I was wondering what else was under the hood. He said he upgraded from the 2.5" to the 3" and those gains are incredible. I'm guessing I should see a far better increase. Of course my pre-install numbers won't be near as impressive.
Any-whoo...I got my tracking number today and it turns out mine won't be here until mid next week.

It took a little bit for the ECU to adjust to my 3" single output exhaust. Its great and Im sure Cattmans is too.

My question I quess is....Is the power/torque through out the entire powerband or just upper? Also how's your slow speed tractability in slow (35-50 mph) traffic? Can yall be more specific?

BTW it looks like the first scan for mine was on 22july not 20 july as anticipated. So for us east coasters probably 28 july (at least that's what the tracer said). West coasters you'll probably get it Monday if you didn't get it Friday.
