Cattman 3" catback
#322
Hey everybody, I'm back from vacation and pleased to see that the headers have been well-received. I haven't seen/heard the off-forum links, but the video/sound in the previous post sounded good. I'm not really fan of sound clips, but you can sure hear the difference between the 2.5" and 3.0"! I'm starting to wish I had one of these systems on my 2002... Thanks to "the Law" and SCMax2000 for taking the time to record and post pics/vids/clips.
Anyway, there's one 3" catback left from this batch, so if you didn't order yet, and like what you see from those who did, give us a call at 800.759.9920 (US except AZ), 888.296.5153 (Canada and AZ) or 520.575.6195, we're open 9-5 MST, M-F.

Yep, all stock except intake and exhaust. I'm still kicking the headers around. The sound is really nice, Like a performance luxury car should sound. I'll probably do the headers when I go FI. I figure I'm probably the closest to stock which is why I paid for the install and dyno runs. Just to help out a little.
Oh as far as interior noise at various speeds, my wife loves it, and she HATES loud/obnoxious things (i have no idea how we stay together ). i was coming to my off ramp and was at 50 in 3rd it was loud but we still had a conversation without yelling and the radio was on. The radio can still be heard at low levels, but you'll keep that off for the 1st month most likely. Hope that helps.

Cool, I'll really appreciate it because that's gonna make the difference on whether I increase my tubular gerth by .5"......The cabin/interior exhaust sound is my concern...it actually sounds a bit deeper than the 2.5" and smoother sound wise! But to cruise at 40, 50, 60 and 70 is where the resonance seems to be in our Maximas and I'm really curious how it performs cruising @ 2000-2600 rpm!!! Thanks man...I must say so far I'm really impressed with Brian's 3" catback! That guy is never lacking in quality....

No problem. I'm glad I was able to help get this great product produced by Mr. Brian aka "Mr. Cattman". I love the sound and it feels great driving the car

Sound clips on the way. More pictures. This sounds amazing and the install was a piece of cake! I'll upload sound tonight.
Where that 2nd smaller protective bracing is (right before the gas tank), I used a crush-washer to a) dampen pressure of the piping hitting it and b) eliminate rattling. It works great, because no where else do I have the piping touching. I suggest.

I've been in all of those ranges. as long as you're steady on the throttle (i.e not fluttering it) there is no significant drone. when you add throttle to the mix you'll notice it get a little louder. Other than that you're good. it's a mellow deep sound. sorta like a nice congac (insert shout out to Hennessy here)

Step 1: go into all of your storage areas...Find all the things that your mom dad bros and sis' stored over the years.
Step 2: Post them on Ebay.com
step 3: clear out that paypal account and send all the proceeds to Brian
Or you can take the one step method....BEG the wife.
Just kidding.

You know that's right....this is my first XL upgrade. I don't think a lot of local shops would have included a necessary imperfection in the system. By that I mean - Brian told us about the little metal catch that comes into play to catch the exhaust if it falls apart. But then we have a cross memeber that he accounted for by putting a dent in our exhaust so that it was a perfect fit. Even though it looks like a shipping accident - It isn't. That is what we in the army call "ATTENTION TO DETAIL"
Great job, great sound - In and out, to easy to install and excellent quality. I'm sure the gains will be great.
bottom line for all the fence walkers....Buy the system; it's worth it...You'll get the final "for sure" when I get my second dyno later this week.

Great!!! That's what I needed...Thanks alot...It's that contant exhaust tone! It's still really sweet kinda deeper than my Cattman 2.5" with...but louder than my setup I have now with the Oem muffler. How's the part throttle pick up compared to the 2.5" setup? Does it feel peppier?

The drone is definitely not what I was expecting. I was expecting much more of a drone between 55-80mph and it just isn't there. The best way to describe this is a deep and throaty G35 exhaust (the 22" resonated one anyway).
Any soundclips of the unresonateds yet?

We only shipped two non-resonated versions, and I think both were going on turbos, so that won't tell us anything about how a normally aspirated car would sound without a resonator. I'll make a prediction - LOUD!
I'm not a big fan of sound clips, but based on what I've heard, this thing sounds pretty good, and great to hear that the drone isn't significant. I like the lower pitch than the 2.5" system - larger diameter tubing automatically creates a lower pitch (just like a musical instrument), and if its too deep it can be fatiguing during a long drive, but this sounds just right to me.
Now I want one on the Cattmobile!!!

Yep, that sold yesterday. We are now in backorder mode, and I've already got two orders. As soon as we hit 7-8 backorders - and since these seem to be well-received that shouldn't take long - we'll manufacture the next batch.
Introductory prices are still in effect - $679.99 for non-resonated (only recommended for turbo'd motors) and $739.99 with a resonator. We take orders by phone at 800.759.9920 (US except AZ), 888.296.5153 (Canada and AZ) or 520.575.6195.
