HELP - failed emissions

Okay so the other day i failed my emissions testing (live in CT) because i ran a PO420 code...i need to replace the cat and was looking for an aftermarket one. I am thinking this warpspeed one w/y pipe http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WARPS...mZ300296591671 but need to make sure it will still pass emissions....anyone have any experience with it? they claim you will still pass since the y pipe doesnt remove any precats but i am just checking

I ran a Cattman Ypipe, Wsp MS cat, Cattman catback, and passed for 4 yrs straight. So just fix your problem with some performance bolt-ons and clear the codes. During the emission test they're basically just looking for stored codes, leaking fuel caps, and the obvious safety violations such as bald tires, missing lug nuts, non-working lights, etc....

An emissions test has nothing to do with safety equipment.

OP: If you're just looking to pass emissions, you could always use an O2 sim to get rid of the code. That's all the emissions station is going to do, check OBD-II readiness monitors and DTCs.

The OBD test is quick and easy. The inspector connects your on-board computer, which continuously monitors the engine and emissions controls, to the inspection computer and downloads the data. The results are printed on the Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) that you receive at the end of the test.
If you pass the OBD test, you pass the emissions test.

Get the ECU reprogrammed. When I had a p0430 code on a 2000 maxima, dealer told me that I needed a new pre-cat and if it was a p0420 then a lot of times you can get away with resetting a few parameters when having the computer reprogrammed.

I vote on getting the O2 simulators.

I'm selling that exact cat converter you were looking at on ebay. I purchased it with the 2000 FED spec y pipe.
Heres the link with pics.
