Barely squeaked by on my yearly emission test

I got my P0037 code fixed (bank 1 rear O2 low voltage) then drove my car around that day and the next, then took my car in for my emission test which was due by the end of this month (March). I don't pass because the readiness monitor shows "2 not ready" and the max allowed is 1. Later that night, my car pops a stoner code (P0420) which is bank 1 precat. I reset the computer and hope the code doesn't pop up again before I can get my 1 free retest. Anyway, by this morning, all parameters were ready except for "catalyst" so I headed to the inspection station. Double checked again before getting out of the car. Still no codes and only 1 "not ready". They reinspecct my car and it passes.

I go get lunch and come back home. Just for fun, I check to see if the "catalyst" is ready. Still showing "not ready" but I had a pending P0420 code.

At least I have a year and 4 days to take care of it.

I had that happen on a few of the cars, clear the codes, drive the car for 2-3 days, get it inspected, passes and the light comes back on that evening. One time, I had a cel turn on when I was driving out of the inspection station, that was kinda funny.

What do you use to see what sensors are ready?

OBDII code reader. You have a Maxima, you pretty much need to have one.

In MA, do they hook the car up to the computer like here, or is it a visual inspection? IE, no lights. How many monitors do you need active to pass?

everything is done through obd II port unless its pre-1996. I believe you need two active monitors, you'd have to double check.
