*Need Advice* Sick of Coilover --- WANT A SMOOTH RIDE AGAIN!!

Hey guys,

I'm just getting back into my car again....iv sorta been out of the loop after going to law school for the last three years and having 0 dollars to my name.

I'm currently driving a 2k max...iv been running coilovers in the car for at least the last 4 years. They are great and i love them...However now i'm starting to get sick of the bumpy ride. I drive my gf's lexus once in a while and love how smooth it is, how you don't feel anybumps.

So my basic question is, what type of suspension can I put in my car for me to solve my problem of a bumpy ride?

Yea, that's what i thought as well. But what if i wanted to keep the car lowered? Is it even posssible to have a smooth ride if your car is lowered?

I was told by some1 that coilovers themselves add to a bump ride.

To be perfectly honest, i put them 4 years ago and 3 years of law school wipped my memory clean...so don't remember, but i'm going for my 100k tune up this weekend. I should have a better idea then.

I'll take a look at the tien ss, thank you.

Take a pic of the coilovers, that will at least give us an idea of what they are.

I am running Illuminas + H&Rs...not quite stock, but is pretty comfortable all around.

I would suggest illuminas with stock se springs would be your best ride. I have Illuminas with tein H techs and its not bad but still a little bouncy over big dips or bumps. Theres alway Illuminas and eibachs that only give you about a inch of drop though.

I've also heard the combo of Illuminas and my stock se springs would provide me with the same ride you are looking for.

I am currently running stock se springs with illuminas in the front...handling is a bit improved over stock struts but even on 1, its not as smooth as stock. No matter what car or suspension you have there is no fix for crappy roads.

have you considered air ride? u want plush ? and handling? hard to combine but an air strut with adjustable shock valving might do the job , was considering it myself.

Illumina's and H&R's have been said to be the closest thing to stock ride comfort

also, very costly to have it done right... I had air on my previous car, it was nice, but not cost effective, and the slight worry about something failing is not worth it...

I must be getting old, because I have the same setup and hate the ride now.
Just way to stiff for my old *** I guess. Does handle alot better then stock though.

Just take one trip down S Eastern (between I-240 and Moore) and you would think you have zero suspension. I can't sip my coffee until I get to the interstate....

but oh so worth it when done right !!! and an air spring is just as reliable as any coil spring out there.

I would suggest looking into Tein SS. It seems maybe your coilovers are shot. Where do you live? Well pretty much anywhere you go there can be some difficult roads.

You being a law student, and hopefully working soon with a firm, why dont you upgrade to some JIC's. I heard their the best, also most expensive. If you're looking for an alternative coilovers go with Tein SS.
