Grounding kit problem
Hey guys....
Sorry if this has already been covered. I searched and came up with nothing.
I installed my grounding kit (Shinjiduo kit) this past weekend and ran into a problem yesterday. Here is what I posted the classified thread for these kits.
Sorry for the 4 month bump, but I finally got my kit installed this past weekend. I got this same ticking but didnt think much of it because it was very slight. Then yesterday (Tuesday) after work, the ticking got a bit more noticeable. Then after driving for about 10-15 minutes, it developed almost a grinding/rattling noise whenever it went above 1700 rpm.
So my first thought was the grounding kit that i just installed. Since I didnt want to drive all the way home with that noise, i took off the intake manifold ground, timing chain cover gound, front engine ground, and disconnected the connection at the neg. battery terminal. When I started it up again, the ticking and noise was gone.
So did anyone ever figure out what was causing the problem? It seems from the previous posts that its just the intake manifold ground that is causing the problem. I will try reconnecting all of the other grounds except for that one to confirm that as well.
Is there another location to ground the intake manifold that may eliminate this?

It sounds like a few others are having the same problem as well. Any thoughts on what it might be? Would it be the location of the ground point, the part being grounded? Does grounding the intake manifold really help or should i just omit that part of the kit?
Any help would be appreciated.

It's the ground kit to the IM(intake manifold), when it was on(now that it's off), there was a knocking sound when the gas pedal is touched. It is so annoying that i have to take it off. Any idea of what's happening??

I have the same exact problem. I purchased the same grounding kit from Shinjiduo, had it installed and ever since then, had the ticking sound every time I accelerate.
I'm gonna remove my wire running to the Intake manifold to see if that solves my problem as well but am curious to know too if keeping it grounded really helps or if we can omit it.

You can remove any wire and still get a signifigant benefit from the kit. That wire in particular draws surges away from the sensors around the throttle body. Unfortunately, I only installed the kit on one 2002 Maxima. That one happened to be an automatic tranny and there was no sound. So I cannot figure out why this seems to happen as I have no solid research to draw upon.
Is there any other locations that we could connect that too that might avoid that problem. For example, in the pic above, there is a bolt just in front of that point that looks like its just holding a bracket on. Would that give the same benefits if the wire is long enough? Any other possibilities?

That wire is so thick that it's transfering upper engine noise up onto your fire wall.
That's what your hearing inside the car.
Sort of like the old screwdriver to the ear trick to pinpoint a bad accessory bearing.
