New Fuel Filter
#43
It was a tad bit nothing to jump around about, but its a worthwhile mod I threw the filter away didn't get a chance to open it up so can't speak on the condition of it, but I did notice a piece of black plastic sitting in the tank. Don't know how it got there but I can only imagine what else gets in there by accident

I believe that's the rubber O-Ring. It's about 5" in diameter.

make sure you do it with an empty tank or at least 1/4 or less, be very CAREFUL with the fuel pump sender reciever as it is very fragile and the arm can destroy the circuit board and then youll never know how much gas is left in the tank, the o-ring if you dont want to order a new one the old can be cut and a dab of krazy glue can be applied and itll work fine, recommended you change it though. also recommend while in there to put a walbro 255 lph pump in and change out the fuel strainer at the bottom of the pump as that can get dirty too.

However, I don't want to start this process if I don't have all the parts... and you're saying there's a 3rd part?
Can someone please talk to this a little more?

Well, now I'm confused. I bought the filter ("strainer", actually), and the O-ring, and now I'm waiting for a convergence of a free weekend and an empty tank.

so these are the correct part numbers for the 5.5 gen fuel filter and o-ring, which is all you need to do the install right?
EDIT: nevermind, i'm seeing on courtesy parts that the part number for the fuel filter is: 16400-A33B001

I did mine recently and the old one was brown. New one was a bright yellow. All I used was a 10mm socket ratchet and my bare hands.
The bottom half of seats come out by pulling two rings. Top half of fuel pump is very flexible but the bottom half not as much because the tabs are thicker. All in all surprised with how easy it was when I finished. I did not use new seals and the car feels the same, but I have peace of mind.
