It's been a few months with this new strainer and o-ring sitting around, waiting for the right timing of an empty tank and an empty weekend. I finally got around to replacing this filter tonight.

It took about an hour end-2-end. Thank God for the writeup on Shiftice.com.

Anyway... THE CAR IS A FREAKIN' ROCKET NOW!!!

Um, no. Just kidding. The car ran fine for the last 7 years and 50k miles. Now I have a new fuel filter and it continues to run well. At the very least, I bought some peace of mind.

And that's not so bad.

4th Gen SAME??

Hello all, I have seen a few posts about the 4th Gen and people replaceing these filters. Is it true? I have the same P0300 code this week, car is smooth at idle and at cruise, but does not want to accelerate and stumbles badly with anything more than 20% throttle.

It feels fuel related??? When car is at idle, you would not know it was running, only problems occur when accelerating. Also car will not pull much more than 4,000K RPMs.

Otherwise runs great...

157K miles 98 5MT SE - bought last month, unsure of any recent maintanence from previous owner.

Thank you

I saw someone ask about the fuel pressure, so here we go:

The last item to check if fuel pressure NG is Fuel Pressure Regulator for clogging.

WOW Car is alive! Took about 10 min to install the filter once I got the pump out. (ive taken the pump out before and apart). Glad I spent the time to go get one and the money.
side notes, my oring was fine.
and there was lots of dirt and debris on the sock on the bottom of the pump and in the lower half of the plastic unit.

FTW
