THere terrible, i had one, the filter design blows nuts and messed up air flow around the MAF and always causes codes, i used a spectre filter and it made a big diff. but since i was getting bad lean codes daily i put in the oem box again, but 2 days ago after a year of codes, i found the source of my lean codes...... vacuum leak.

I had one on my old Lancer, I had no complaints it did great midrange and beyond like it should and a nice sound. Didn't know the filter where less effective(now that I think I do recall it getting dirty extremely quickly) but like I said was Ok to me but wouldn't pay more than 150 for one.

I got a universal intake tube from autozone for like $40 dollars, relocated the battery off to the side and the filter sits behind the drivers headlight. I prefer the longer tube vs. the berk with my setup. The sound is really nice and its shiny too. I'll try to take a pic tonite. no sense in spending tons of money for an intake when really all your paying for is a name, tube and a filter.

I have a weapon r dragon intake. The sound is great but the filter gets dirty very easily. Would i buy one again ? Probably not.

I only paid 125$ for it. Not bad. I will most likely replace it soon though. Should i go with a CAI this time ?

X2 Drivability is much better for me with the longer setup.

ill take a picture. basically you run one of those metal bendy pipes from home depot that go on washers and dryers to the bottom of the car so you take in colder air.

k&n filters are overrated junk that do nothing but gum up sensors and other electronic devices in the intake system. best bet is to go with one of those cheap MAF adaptors and buy a descent filter. i have the injen cai and have had no problems whatsoever. so my opinion stands with them

Click Link for intake tube

Sorry I havnt taken any pics yet.... Anyways I'm sayin, I've owned the berk and the Placeracing CAI and the the custom setup I have IMO is way better than either. The price is $39.99 for the tube and whatever it cost's for whatever filter you get. And if you end up not liking it you can cut it to basiclly be a berk style intake. The bottom line is a tube is a tube; all your paying for is a name, shape and diameter.

Post some when you get a chance..
So that tube plus a filter of my choice will do just as fine as a CAI that I would go out and buy??

I'll post today. DO NOT BUY INTAKES FOR THESE CARS!

Two of my friends run 02s along with my 00 at the track and I can assure you a properly done GAB is better than anything on the market. Most aftermarket ones give you horse but they rob you of too much torque. The GAB lets you keep the torque and still gain some horsepower. I recommend getting a K&N but its not necessary. All you need is a drill and $15 and you already have a good intake.

Like I said pics later today.

Here you go... I'm not sure where your battery is on an 00-01 but I had to move the battery on my 02. I had already moved it when I had my PR CAI so it was about a 5-10 minute install for the new intake.

If you notice it looks a lot like s1mply_v's but it's one solid tube, cheap and performs well despite the price.

The GAB isn't a bad idea either like TeH BawNeY said. If your stock it might even be cheaper than what I did. I bought the car with a berk on so I just stayed with aftermarket ones. I would have tried it though if it had came with a stock intake.

weapon r secret weapon 01 max

I recently bought a weapon r SW and the guy above is right, I didn't have enough tube to get the filter where it should be (not right next to the 100+degree radiator hose which is how it had to go before new tubing). Does have a great sound, and came with flex tube for "ram air" which i have running off end of filter down below the motor. overall, wouldn't buy again. as far as sensor codes, haven't had a problem.
