Race with new SE-R

I was just cruising the streets of Plano Texas today and I happen to see a red nissan coming my way. I saw tis big *** nissan emblem and thought its either the alt or a sentra.
To my suprise it was an SE-R. Damn it looked sharp. Nice wheels chrome tips, the emblem looked better in person as well.

Well I pull up at a light and look over at him and say sup. He does the same. I hear him rev and I hear a loud growl. I rev but my growl was even bigger. Well light changes and we take off. The focker actually kept up pretty good until about 2nd to 3rd shift. And then he was my b!tch. I pulled into exXon ( gas was 1.09 for supreme) and he pulled in too. He goes damn the new Maximas are fast. I told him The new sentras are fast. He shows me what he had under the hood. Intake and red snakes. I was damn impressed. I showed him my engine and he loved the 3.5 l the interior and everything else. We shook hands and went about our way.

Good Job SE-R Ever civic owners envy now

Re: Race with new SE-R

If that SE-R even kept up with you, you need to learn how to drive better! That car is slower than the SR20DE version of the SE Sentra.

Come on, you can't really compare the SE-R with the new Maxima. Of course the new Maxima will beat the SE-R. However, I think the SE-R is faster then other cars in its class.

I haven't race the new Maxima yet, but I would sure love to see how well the new Maxima could hang with me.

First of all, the new Se-R sentra tested 7.9 @ 0-60. The 2k-2k1 maxima with auto is about 7.8 @ 0-60. No way can a new sentra keep up with a new maxima with only an intake. Something was wrong. Maybe he had nos or something.

SE-R's

I can't vouch for the new SE-R's but the older ones came slightly mistuned from the factory. Test after test of the 200SX SE-r's showed stock times of 16.4@88mph. They came with their timing set at 6-8 degrees BTDC. Correct spec is 15-17 BTDC. By bumping this to 17 and running and intake, I consistenly cut 15.4's@90 at the strip. Exhaust, headers, cams and ECU netted me 14.1's@96. Not bad for a fourbanger. I dynoed my car without the JWT cams at 154hp at the ground. Although I honestly can not wait till next week when I get my 2002 6-speed!! I'll take it to the strip as soon as I break it in and post some baseline numbers(I figure 14.5@98).
