ABS light- should i get this checked out?

Hello, I have an unusual problem with my ABS light. the light comes on when I start the car for the first time each day and stays on, but the second time i start the car that same day the light stays off. This has happened every single day for a few weeks. I thought i was a "cold start" issue because it was cold, but even when its warm and in the afternoon the same thing happens. Any ideas? could this be a sensor, should i get it checked out?

ive got a bad sensor on my 00, i know its bad i bent it during a stud swap. and when i start the car most of the time the light stays on and i have no abs, which makes sence, and other times ill start up and its not on, and then on one of the first stopps the abs system activates a little, ie the peddle pulses a bit and then the light goes back on and im back to my sans abs car.

id say check the sensors, mine rusted up a lot and can be fragile

i think nissan has a computer that they can plug in and pinpoint the problem but i think thats kind of $$

hope that helps at least a little bit

It's a bad sensor...

I had the same problem. My ABS light came on and I took it to the dealer. They told me that my rear wheel ABS sensor was bad. I took it to my regular mechanic and he replaced it for half the price. I can notice the braking difference.

When I had a bad ABS sensor, my TCS OFF, ABS, and SLIP lights came on. One of my ABS sensor wires was chopped in half. If only your ABS light is on, I would suspect that it might be some other issue with your brake system.

probably a bad sensor, unless you know of a good high end, or true specialty shop, that has the utility or consult II or consult II to scan it then your only solution is to go to the stealership

I just had my driver side rear ABS sensor replaced, prior to getting it replaced, the ABS pump/actuator would click and pulsate heavy every single time i started my car, i literally had no abs, NOW with the sensor replaced, i have no problems

make sure you're wheel bearings are good, my friend had the same problem(light would come on and off) and when i went to replace his alternator it turned out his right front wheel bearing was trashed.(if the exciter ring on the axle isnt spinning straight it wont be able to pick up a correct reading).
