My wifes car is requiring at least 2 quarts of oil added in between oil changes. We dont have much money for any repairs, so I just keep an eye on it.
THis morning I go to start the car up and it sounds like a piston is flopping around in there, puffs of blue smoke billowing from the tail pipes...once the smoke stopped the idle and car cleared up. Just some valve ticking after that.
Without tearing the motor apart. I'm thinking I either have some serious blow bye issues, a leaking valve stem seal, or something else.
Just posting this for ideas....

Bad gas maybe watered down causing knocking.... that model is known to burn oil like crazy try some better oil maybe too, are you always using 91 or better octane gas? ALSO MILEAGE?

blue smoke is burning oil, hence adding 2 quarts between changes. White smoke is coolant(generally)...and black smoke is to much gas in the cylanders. I'm going to go with Blitzfist's post. That is a fair amount of oil to be burning. Make sure to use the highest octane you have at your station and try some high milage oil. Something a little thicker so it's harder to seep through a leak.
