Fiamm Highway Blaster Horns

Fiamm Highway Blaster Horns
Anyone use these? How did you get them to fit? I thought they were supposed to be a direct fit but they are too big to fit in that area. Also, does anyone know which metal piece is the positive/negative on the horn since you have to convert it to a single-wire setup?

Ridin - keep in mind that the I35 has different, louder horns than those that come on the Maxima.
Any time I've changed a horn I usually just plug it up and see if it works (never changed them on my I35). Switch it around if it doesn't.

Oh the I35 horns are different than the Max's? What do the Maxima horns sound like in comparison to the I35s, disregarding volume?
In terms of wiring, I tried both ways and the horn didn't work, so I dont know if I blew something if I connected it wrong one time.

i might be wrong.. but it think the way its wired.. they both need to be connected for it to work properly.. when i put my hella horns on.. i started with one and it wouldnt work because the other one was not connected......

depending on what kinda horn you use. but most aftermarket LOUD one will draw way to many amps.
fyi i put a relay in myne. pulling power directly off battery..
otherwise it would honk for <5 sec then blow the fuse. which is SECURITY or HORN dependingn if its high or low tone.

It seems the right side horn doesn't work at all and the left side horn only works intermittently. It always works when I press on the horn on steering column, but say for example when I hit 'lock' on the keyfob; the lights blink but no horn.
This is making me believe the problem isn't the horns but maybe the relays or fuses. So I think my original horns may be ok but maybe the relays are bad. I will check.

Woo hoo, fixed it!
So first thing I do is check the horn fuse...it was good. Then checked the 'anti-theft' fuse since I read some stuff about that having to do with the horns as well. It was good, however, there was a lot of green corrosion on it & the connecting terminals in the actual fuse box. I scraped off the corrosion, plugged it back in, and now BOTH horns work, even when doing a keyfob 'lock'. Beautiful, no need for new horns or relays!
So if anyone gets the intermittent horn problem, make sure your fuses & connecting terminals are clean!

LOL, I got the auto-notification email describing your problem and was just about to post what you discovered. Not long ago I had the same problem you were describing and noticed a lot of gunk/debris in the connectors. Cleaned those out and they were good. Unfortunately I had already purchased replacement horns, but they just went into another vehicle

Same here, I bought the Fiamm horns already, tried to install one & it wasn't a direct fit so gave up with the intention on returning to it at a later time. Well, what a waste of $40 (especially since I lost the receipt though I only opened one horn up).
But at least my horns work. I just knew I had to do something when I hit the hazard button on the keyfob and all that happens is my lights start blinking.

So this is an old string, but can we get an update? I have an 03 SE, and want a horn, not a beep (stock). I have looked online and found horns for like $20 each. Anyone know where I can get a good loud horn cheap? Please post link.

Never installed the Fiamms. Matter fact I just threw them away since I couldn't return them.
1) since they wouldn't fit in my I35 without modification
2) because replacing the 'Security' fuse restored my factory horns

I have the freeway blaster horns you find at the auto parts store... i guess they are made by FIAMM. But i istalled them with no problem on my 02 Max. 1 connector has the pos wire going in and the other connector is for ground. It was a tight squeeze to get them behind the grill, but they fit nicely. Much better sound than the stock ear piercing horns.
