1 small chip so far and I was pretty ****ed about it since I only have 700 miles. I've come to terms with it and I am expecting more. I knew of the paint problems before I even bought the car but I opted for the Maxima over anything else anyway.

Were did you get the chip? I think tomarrow I am going to install my 3M clear bra on my hood.

BTW the bra for the 2002 max is damnnbear impossible to get on! I guess when it's cold out side it shrinks so it was a huge pain in **** to install.

i have 3100 miles--3 paint chips right next to each other on the front section of the hood (a real eyesore), 2 on the sides and 1 on the front of the car by the lights--i really need to get some touch up paint but i don't want to mess it up and make it look worse

i look at those three chips right after i spend a couple hours washing it and man it eats me up inside

It's on the front of the hood and barely noticeable to anyone other than myself.

So far only a nick on the passenger door guard. Probably the wife getting out of the Expy. No other found chips yet. Hope to get the 3M product in the next few weeks. I got a quote of $300 for Hood, Bumper, and mirrors. Probably get them to throw in the lights and fogs too.

Do you know of a place that sell's the 3M bra for the 02 max? The only 3M bra piece I could find was the hood piece. The hood piece was listed under 00-01 but I know it's the same for the 02, the bumper's another story though. Please let me know!

Xpel.com does not yet list the 2002 and does not answer email inquiry.

BIGMATT if you think that.s bad

I had a 18 wheeler throw a rock on my hood in the first 10
minutes of taking the car from the dealer. That sucked big time.
have since had the front end repainted and the new paint is by far
better the the Nissan thin coat. It has held up much better

I got a small nick in the paint on the door edge, never hit anything either. Touch up paint fixed it for $3, but still not good to have.

anyone who knows, please answer:
does using the touch up paint leave a noticable mark or does blend seamlessly? did you use the little paint sticks?
thanks

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. Less than 12 hours after taking delivery of the car a rock hit my windshield (some minivan driving on the left hand side on an otherwise clean road)!
Anyhow, so far so good for the paint. No chips of any kind! (knock on wood somewhere quick)

3700 miles @ 2 months old.

3 chips on the hood
2 on the bumper
1 scratch on the left rear panel
2 chips on the driver side door

I never had such problems driving in worse conditions on my old Civic.

You might need updated drivers... or if you have a SmartMedia, Compact Flash, or MultiMedia card in your camera, get one of the little usb drives for it. Much easier than having to plug the camera in everytime.

Good idea, I downloaded a program and it requires a USB driver. I will give my brother a call in a minute, he know's everything about computers.
