taking the maxima to Z-Max dragway
thursday july 16th is street legal night at z-max, any suggestions or tips that might help would be greatly appreciatted. i just have an intake and exhaust on an 02, any ideas on what time or mph should be? do you think i will be able to get to 90mph in the 1/4 mile?
auto or 6spd? i trapped 91 with intake/exhaust/block off plate.. so it should be there if your car is running okay.. i got 14.952 but the track is not very good so look for times around there or better
You should be good for what you want. My best in my 6 speed is 14.5 @ 96 mph with only Injen CAI.. It may take a few runs before you get what you want as you will have to learn how to launch your car. Good luck and most of all have fun..
Here are a few tips:
Take anything extra out of the car. Spare tire, jack/tools, floor mats etc... Also, plan on having no more than 1/8th of a tank of gas. It's not just the weight reduction but the weight distribution. More weight on the back of the car means less traction up front.
Pump the rear tires up as much as you feel is safe for the drive there. Better yet, find out if the track has a compressor for pumping up tires. This will reduce the rolling resistance and keep the rear from squatting as much.
Don't do a burnout and avoid the water if possible. Spin the tires for a second to clean them off but no more. Street tires will loose traction if you do a long burnout.
Look up the track rules and be sure to follow them. Some tracks require long pants to run and some will kick you out if your car drips anything including water from the AC running. It would be a shame to plan all this and not be able to run for some silly reason like wearing the wrong pants.
