My 00SE 5speed is having trans issues. My axle seals are leaking and now it's popping out of 5th gear when driving at speed. Am I looking at a rebuild here?

 

How many miles are on your Max & what type of Trans Fiuld are you running?

Also, does it grind going into any gear?

 

78K, original clutch and everything. I bought it with under 50K in 07. Then the axle seals went, so I have been having to refill regularly. I am using mobil 1 gear oil. No grinding or anything, the only thing I have ever noticed is that it makes a slight "fluttering" type sound when you are in neutral and you let out the clutch, not sure if that's normal or not. Runs well and shift just fine, STS, it's just when I am cruising in 5th at anything over 45 it pops out.

 

Before you attempt a rebuild, try Redline MT-90 and See if this helps...If it cures the problem then you are going to want to replace those axle seals cause that $hit is expensive. There are some threads
