If you have the ecu, couldn't you just try it and see if you get a SES? Or you didnt get the ECU yet?

if you open the hood, you'll see four plugs for the o2 sensors for cali spec and 2 for fed spec.

ya, my engine has 4 plugs, the engine is cali-spec, what im questioning is the new ecu i just put in, whether its cali spec or not, i opened it up and took a side by side comparison to my burnt ecu and it looks the same inside, except new, the pcb has the same stamping on it too

You prob cant notice an actual hardware difference. Its prob just some different firmware.

The difference is amount of O2 sensors, fed has 3, cali has 4. i believe most maximas in the us after 95 are cali spec
