Header Flange Smoothing - More Needed?

I have completed the smoothing similar to Cmax's:

Was wondering if spraying some high temp paint on the smoothed part would be needed to prevent rust? I know Cattman y-pipes are stainless, but I just want to double check. Thanks guys.

I don't think the flanges are stainless, just the piping

So, you think it would be wise to cover it with some high-temp paint? That is, the parts that I have smoothed?

shouldnt hurt anything if you did paint it, you have more to gain than to lose.

Yeah. My only reasoning for painting would be as a preventative measure to prevent rusting of any sort. Especially since it's been dremelled down. Not sure how the dremelling will effect rust...

definitely wouldn't hurt to paint it.

Don't waste your time painting the interior of the ypipe, it's useless! Unless you're spraying ceramic coating your wasting your time. Plus it's not going rust that close up to the engine, too much heat! Most rusting in my enviroment happens farther downstream on the exhaust system. Also to answer a question from the original thread, the flanges are all mild steel and yes the tubing is SS. But thanks for the mentioning, I personally like to clean up the weld globs, and splats that could interfere in the exhaust gas flow!

Good to hear, thanks Cmax. I've never had an issue with rusting with any of my cars anyway here in Phoenix. Just figured I'd be safe than sorry. Thanks again guys.
