I have a 2K1 5-speed Maxima and love it! My only beef is that 2K2 introduced a 6-speed. I drove one, and it was great having lower RPMs and less noise at higher freeway speeds (Texas interstates can have 75 MPH speed limits, which tend to put me around 3k RPMs in 5th gear). Has anyone heard of someone putting the 6-speed transmission into a 2K1 or is it even possible?

Try a search. I think this has been discussed before and that there are ECU issues that would make the swap difficult if not impossible.

I think you'll have to swap the whole engine with the tranny and everything...if you do that...you'll have the coolest maxima...2k1 body which is nicer then the 2k2 with the 2k2 engine which is better then the 2k1...kill 2 birds with one stone...hehe

Reguardless of weather it is possible or not, it would be cheaper to just trade in for a 02. Then you would get a new car with a stronger engine and other improvements to.

Yes, but you have to buy the rest of the 2K2 to go with it...
