Megan Racing Springs. serious drop...

Ok so everybody is tellin' me that i need a serious drop with the 20's im throwin down on my maxx. So i have about 110,000 on my ride and im assuming not only am i gonna need springs but new struts cause they are gonna blow. With 20's i think i wanna go about 1.75 in the front and 1.75 in the rear... does anyone recommend any other height adjustments for 20's? also what brand and where do you recommend getting new struts if i need them?

i have dropzone springs with tokico illuminas which offer 2" drop....the drop is ok...i just wish, because of what i want to do with this car, that i purchased the coilovers i was set on.

i love my struts, not so much the springs. when i redo my suspension i'm getting Tein SS Coilovers

here is a pic on my stock wheels w/ the 2" drop

ok will a 2 inch drop though work with some 20's? im kinda worried about that... and ya im lookin at around the same setup as yours... not really interested in coilovers. waaay too expensive. but how much was your suspension setup? Thanks.

As long as you have the proper tire size, your 20" rim/tires combo is no bigger than stock. The tires are lower profile to fit the larger rims, so the overall height is not effected. A 2" drop with springs will ride harsh over bumps because of the limit travel on maximas and your super thin tires.

k thanks for that. Im probably not gonna go with a 2" drop, probably 1.75" in the front and rear. I can already feel the road wit the low pro's. but i guess that sounds about right....

get tein s-techs...2.2inch drop in the front and 1.6inches in the rear. As long as you are running 35 series or lower rubber on the 20s you should be fine (unless you have 255 width or larger tires in which case you might need your fenders rolled)

I am rolling on Tein S-Techs with KYB Gr-2's and the ride is fine to me. I went with the S-Techs because I always see people that wish they were a little bit lower than a 1" drop. My recommendation will be to go low so you have no regrets.

yea its all in the tires. I'd go 225/35/20. when i had 20s i had 245/35 and it stood the car up from the ground, but still looked dropped from the fender wells. if you want to do a 30 series get a name brand tire so they wont pop as much if you have major potholes

Progress are 1.75" drop in the front and 1.5" drop in the rear but maybe to soft for all the weight! Definitely invest in some illuminas or some other heavy duty strut assys.

get on one of those tire calculator sites and play around with tire sizes. compare the size of an 18 inch wheel with tire to your 20s with a tire and go from there. my homeboy used to have 225/30/20 and eibachs and he sat LOWER than me with progress springs with 245/40/18's.

if its for DD...i see no reason to get any kind of springs...ur just gona have to worry about the ride...struts can compensate alot for bad springs

I got an 01 Se with 20" wheels on there with H&R springs and stock struts. No rubbing issues and the ride was great for awhile but, ya everyone is right you need to get struts pretty soon after the springs. I'm considering doing coilovers in the front and illuminas in the rear simply for the same reason as stated above I would like a little adjustability in the front. The rear sits pretty but I would like to see a little lower in the front.. But H&R's ride great and has no rubbing with 20s..
